Why me? Why not?

First year love anniversary of theirs

Everyone gathered, danced with them

Some made a joyous laugh

And some made a mocking laugh

It wasn't the usual love anniversary 

Anniversaries of this sort happen rarely

She held his hand and came down the stairs

Adjusting her hair

She was a transwoman

She was tinted with happiness

Believed in their togetherness

She asked ''Why me"?

He replied "Why not"?

Many criticisms and hatred they met

But Genderless love tied an unfathomable knot.
